Periodontal Services Keep Your Teeth Healthier Now And LaterPeriodontal disease is said to strike roughly 8 percent of America. This disease is caused by a build-up of bacteria that makes the gums pull away and create pockets between the teeth and gum line. More food and bacteria build up in these pockets, and eventually it leads to loose teeth, very bad breath and eventually tooth loss.

Once gingivitis has reached the level of being diagnosed as periodontal disease, very proactive and specific treatments need to take place to reduce the further risk of damage to the gums and teeth.

Non-surgical procedures are used to help maintain the treatment and to remove the build-up of plaque and bacteria in the pockets. One common treatment is called scaling and root planing, and it essentially goes deep beneath the gum line to remove all of the bacteria and debris. That treatment, along with using products and cleaning services that are antimicrobial – they remove or kill bacteria – will help maintain your teeth and may reverse some of the damage of periodontal disease.
